Heathrow Commercial Telecoms was approached by DHL to help create an extended network allowing for connectivity across all Heathrow terminals. This project was in line with DHL’s expansion to support Heathrow baggage.
Due to the scale of this operation, multiple phases were required. Our deployment team created the following solutions:
- Extension of DHL’s existing CT Roaming WiFi
- Implementation of a Managed LAN network,
- Deployment of new wireless access points
- Implementation of new network ports
Heathrow’s baggage system, which in a single day handles 6.5 tonnes of baggage across conveyor belts longer than the length of 40 runways, is an essential part of the airport operations. The crucial role that baggage plays, meant that this project was subject to very strict deadlines. Despite this, and amid the changing circumstances, the Heathrow Commercial Telecoms Team responded rapidly, delivering the project on time and receiving glowing feedback from DHL.
'There were few “hiccups” along the way, nevertheless all the issues were solved in timely and professional manner with the key person being Luke, who was extremely proactive & helpful.
I would like to take this opportunity to highlight Luke’s can do attitude and efforts – it has been a great pleasure to work with him. He was always on the front foot and willing to assist with all the concerns/issues raised, so please pass on my thank you to him and please make sure that his management know what a great asset they have in their team.'
